National Anthem

Established in 1982, the Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra is one of the oldest Chinese instrumental musical groups outside mainland China.  Over the years the Orchestra has served the Australian community well in promoting cultural exchange across the many ethnic and indigenous groups locally and internationally. Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra has become a key part of the cultural richness of Melbourne.  To celebrate its success and to proclaim its love to its homeland, the Orchestra commissioned Dr Julian Yu, an internationally renowned Australian composer, to write a special arrangement of the Australian National Anthem for traditional Chinese musical instruments.   This special arrangement of the Advanced Australia Fair was initiated under the then President of Chao Feng, Mr Gregory Chang in 2005. Mr Chang passed away suddenly in 2007 and it took another 3 years for the recording to be completed.  The CDs has been distributed in memory of Mr Chang to major libraries and municipal councils for use in official ceremonial events end educational activities.
